FENUGREEK

Helps With Shedding Excess Weight

  1. FENUGREEK:   Fenugreek is rich in galactomannan, which is a healthy polysaccharide that triggers fat breakdown and sugar metabolism in the body. This leads to the burning of calories and extra layers of fat from the body in the form of ATP.
  2. Another major reason why fenugreek helps in weight loss is that it has the ability to decrease the feeling of hunger. This weight reducing herb makes the stomach fuller. This is an amazing way of healthy dieting, which leads to weight reduction.
  3. Fenugreek does not contain unhealthy carbohydrates. It contains mild traces of healthy carbohydrates. This automatically prevents unnecessary weight gain.
  4. Fenugreek drastically reduces calorie consumption. It also increases the metabolic rate of the body. Increased metabolic rate also leads to calorie breakdown. This leads to weight reduction naturally.

How does it affect diabetes?

Fenugreek seeds (trigonella foenum-graecum) are high in soluble fibre, which helps lower blood sugar by slowing down digestion and absorption of carbohydrates. This suggests they may be effective in treating people with diabetes.

Multiple studies have been carried out to investigate the potential anti-diabetic benefits of fenugreek.

Of these, several clinical trials showed that fenugreek seeds can improve most metabolic symptoms associated with both type 1 and type 2 diabetes in humans by lowering blood glucose levels and improving glucose tolerance.

CHROMIUM GTF – Blood Sugar control

Chromium is an essential mineral that plays a role in how insulin helps the body regulate blood sugar levels. Insulin is a hormone that your body uses to change sugar, starches, and other food into the energy you need for daily activities.

Some evidence suggests that chromium supplements may help people with diabetes lower blood sugar levels. People with diabetes either do not make enough insulin, or cannot properly use the insulin that their bodies make. As a result, glucose or sugar builds up in the bloodstream.

As many as 90% of American diets are low in chromium. But it’s rare to be truly deficient in chromium. People most likely to be deficient in chromium include:

  • The elderly
  • Those who do a lot of strenuous exercise
  • Those who eat a lot of sugary foods
  • Pregnant women

Low chromium levels can increase blood sugar, triglycerides (a type of fat in the blood), cholesterol levels, and increase the risk for a number of conditions, such as diabetes and heart disease.

VANADIUM

Vanadium is a mineral. It was named for the Norse goddess of beauty Vanadis, because of its beautiful colors.

Vanadium has long been used for treating diabetes, low blood sugar, high cholesterol, heart disease, tuberculosis, syphilis, tired blood (anemia), water retention (edema), for improving athletic performance in weight training; and for preventing cancer. There is some evidence that vanadium might act like insulin, or help to increase the effects of insulin.

N-ACETYL-L-CYSTEINE

NAC helps to bring Glucose Levels Under Control for Weight Loss and/or in case of diabetes.

Oxidative stress and inflammation are closely linked to insulin resistance and rising blood glucose levels. These effects are not limited to those with diabetes, but in fact are found in obese and in non-diabetic people and those with metabolic syndrome. There are multiple steps in the cascade of events leading from oxidation to damaged insulin receptors and insulin resistance, so it makes sense to seek a supplement that can target many of those steps independently. NAC is emerging as one such multi-targeted supplement.

Over time, chronic high blood sugar initiates a downward spiral by helping generate advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) that then impair normal responses to insulin, perpetuating elevated sugar levels. NAC reverses those effects in laboratory models. Increasing blood sugar levels in laboratory animals triggers a pro-inflammatory response in fat tissue—also effectively reduced by NAC. In an experiment that recreates a common human dietary trend, rats were given a diet high in the sweetener fructose, which produced increased blood pressure, plasma insulin levels, and triglyceride levels. Yet all of these dangerous physiological alterations were inhibited by NAC.

Human studies of NAC to improve insulin sensitivity have recently appeared, especially in a group of people typically very difficult to treat. Profound insulin resistance is seen in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), along with a variety of other metabolic disturbances.

CINNAMON BARK

Helps With Weight Loss and Diabetes

There is evidence that Cinnamon Bark extract can help in promoting healthy blood sugar and in treating diabetes. Recent U.S.D.A. reports demonstrate that extracts of Cinnamon increase insulin activity, enhancing the breakdown of glucose and improving blood sugar concentrations. Others who can benefit from this wonderful herbal tincture are women suffering from Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, or PCOS. In traditional medicine, it has been used for digestive ailments such as indigestion, gas and bloating, stomach upset, nausea, diarrhea and painful menstruation. Studies also show that it can lower LDL cholesterol and may be a really great support for heart health. Cinnamon has a mild anti-clotting effect in the blood, which could be beneficial for some. Cinnamon Bark can also have a mild anti-inflammatory effect and it contains anti-fungal properties that have been shown to have the ability to stop medication-resistant yeast infections. It can wipe out strains of Helicobacter pylori. This is the common cause of ulcers, heart disease, and possibly, some types of cancer. Cinnamon is believed to useful for people who tend to feel hot in their upper body but have cold feet.

FENUGREEK SEED

Fenugreek is an herb that has long been used in cooking and in traditional Asian medicine to stabilize blood sugar, stop those cranky mid-day crashes and to fight diabetes.

Studies in animals have shown that fenugreek seed extracts can slow down the digestion of carbohydrates, preventing that muffin or piece of bread you just ate from spiking your blood sugar as quickly. It may also decrease absorption of glucose from your diet and influence the release of insulin, which is your body’s natural way of lowering blood sugar.

Studies have shown that fenugreek is effective at lowering post-meal blood sugar levels. Longer-term studies suggest that regular use may also be able to reduce hemoglobin A1c, which is a reflection of overall blood sugar levels over a period of several months. Hemoglobin A1c is an important measure of whether someone has diabetes or can be used to judge how well diabetes is controlled.

GOATS RUE

Helps to Lower Blood Sugar Levels

Little-known Goats Rue Lowers Blood Sugar Levels – People with Type 1 diabetes (which affects mainly young people) are dependent on daily insulin injections. Those with Type 2 diabetes (which typically strikes between the ages of 40 and 70) need to pay careful attention to their diets and exercise regularly.

Lifestyle changes often help, but are not always enough for those with Type 2 diabetes and they may also require medication. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if there were a safe, natural alternative to conventional drugs with all their attendant side-effects? Fortunately, there is. Following intensive studies involving a plant called Goat’s Rue (also known as French Lilac), HSI Panelists are pleased to bring you this special report telling you all about it. Not only does this remarkable plant possess effective anti-diabetic properties, but it can also promote weight-loss, prevent the formation of dangerous blood clots and act as a powerful anti-bacterial agent too.

Dr. Ward Dean, a member of the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Anti-ageing Medicine, is responsible for much of the original research on Goat’s Rue and diabetes. Following extensive studies, he believes that Goat’s Rue has the same clinical benefits as conventional drugs such as Metformin, but without unpleasant side-effects. Goat’s Rue contains the chemical galegin, which is key to its extraordinary anti-diabetic effects. Galegin is chemically very similar to another agent called guanidine, the standard compound from which many conventional diabetic drugs are manufactured, such as Metformin. However, because Goat’s Rue is a plant, it has little to no side-effects than synthetic drugs such as Metformin, which can cause loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, stomach pains and diarrhea.

Type 1 diabetics do not produce any insulin; whereas Type 2 diabetics produce some insulin but not enough. Goat’s Rue reduces the threat of diabetes-related complications. Diabetes is characterised by too much glucose in the blood, due to an irregularity in insulin production. (Insulin is a hormone that promotes the uptake of glucose from the blood to the cells, for conversion to energy or fat storage.)

Over time, high levels of blood glucose can cause irreparable damage to body tissue, particularly your eyes, peripheral nerves, kidneys and veins, as well as suppressing your immune system.

Scientists have discovered that Goat’s Rue initiates a reduction in blood glucose levels (without triggering the symptoms of hypoglycemia), a reduced risk of cataract and retinopathy (degeneration of your retina) and kidney damage, which is common among diabetics. It also slows down the advance of atherosclerosis.

Exactly how Goat’s Rue works is still unknown, but some scientists believe it is able to influence diabetes through its'[insulin] receptor sensitizing’ activities. The production of major hormones such as insulin is dependent upon the communication between cells and other stimulatory hormones and chemicals. The point of contact between the hormone or chemical and the cell is called the membrane receptor.

As you age, the responsiveness of these receptors declines. This means that your cells are not stimulated enough and become inactive, which results in inadequate amounts of insulin (and other hormones) being produced. Receptor sensitizers, such as Goat’s Rue, are nutrients and chemicals that have the ability to rejuvenate your membrane receptors, making your cells more responsive to hormonal and chemical stimulation. Goat’s Rue restores insulin sensitivity in your cells, and boosts their ability to take up glucose from your blood and use it more efficiently.

Now HSI Panelists have discovered that the healthful benefits of Goat’s Rue extend beyond its anti-diabetic role. Researchers at the College of Pharmacological Education and Research in Gujurat, India, have studied the effect of Goat’s Rue on a variety of common bacteria. They found that it can successfully inhibit microbial growth and speed up skin healing after injury. The bacteria studied belonged to two important categories, called Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria that include the great majority of agents responsible for causing skin, lung, stomach, bladder and bowel infections.

Goat’s Rue helps fight off infection and prevents fatal blood clots from forming. The plant’s extracts are proving to be effective anti-coagulants too, preventing the small, cellular constituents of blood, known as platelets, from sticking together. In the event of a serious wound or hemorrhage, platelets become very sticky and clump together to form a blood clot. However, when the walls of your arteries become thickened by aging and high cholesterol deposits (as in the case of atherosclerosis), the platelets can clump together when they shouldn’t to form a clot that risks blocking an artery. Researchers at the Faculty of Medicine of the Thracian University, Bulgaria, have shown that Goat’s Rue extract not only prevents the platelets from abnormally clumping together, but also actually dissolves already formed clots.

Finally, animal studies carried out by scientists, at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Strathclyde University in Glasgow, found that Goat’s Rue can cause a significant reduction in body weight. More astonishing still was that this weight loss was maintained even after treatment with Goat’s Rue had stopped and a normal diet resumed.

GYMNEMA

Has Potent Weight Loss Properties

Gymnema sylvestre is an herb used traditionally in Asia to treat type 2 diabetes, arthritis, and help with weight management. It has a blood sugar lowering effect, partly because it helps your pancreas make insulin. This rejuvenating effect on the pancreas is one reason why this herb is in widespread use. A new animal study now supports the traditional weight loss use, showing that it can powerfully influence multiple aspects of the obesity issue.

The study involved the use of a high fat diet to induce obesity, comparing control subjects, which gain a lot of weight, to those taking Gymnema sylvestre while having the option of consuming as much high fat food as they desire. The study results were remarkable, as gymnema significantly decreased body weight, food consumption, triglycerides, total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, VLDL cholesterol, and blood sugar.  It also boosted levels of protective HDL cholesterol.

While the mechanism of action of all these benefits has yet to be identified, it is quite clear that this safe and nontoxic herb can help millions of Americans in their ongoing battle of the bulge, while working to help prevent falling into the metabolic syndrome.

Gymnema for Diabetes

Gymnema sylvestre is a herb native to Asia that has been used medicinally for thousands of years in India. It’s Hindi or Ayurvedic name Gurmar means ‘destroyer of sugar’ and it has some unusually beneficial properties for treating diabetes.

One of the primary active ingredients in gymnema sylvestre is gymnemic acid. This unique compound is very similar structurally to glucose, but does not act like it within your body. Instead, when consumed before ingesting sugary foods or drinks, gymnemic acid molecules actually block the receptor locations for sugar on your taste buds. This stops sugar activating these receptors and can greatly curb sugar cravings. Gymnemic acid can also block sugar absorption in the intestine and often results in lower blood sugar levels after a meal.

Even more promising, studies report that gymnemic acid increases the production of insulin, improves glucose utilization and may even help to regenerate islet beta cells within the pancreas which produce insulin.

Another study concluded: ‘Gymnema sylvestre supplementation appears to improve glucose control in patients with type II diabetes. Reducing postprandial blood glucose significantly caused a decrease of HbA1c (Average Blood Glucose), therefore reducing the complications of diabetes.’ Sugar-D™
